Rope Bends
When two ends of rope are tied together (whether they are from the same rope or from two different ropes), the knot is referred to as a "bend." If you are a beginner in tying knots, then it is recommended to learn the Tape Knot for ropes of the same thickness, or the Alpine Butterfly Bend for ropes of the same or different thicknesses.
Alpine Butterfly Bend
The Alpine Butterfly Bend is simply made up of two Alpine Butterfly knots tied to each other. Since the Alpine Butterfly is one of the strongest and most secure loop knots, it is strong and secure as a bend as well. One advantage of this bend is that it can be used with two ropes that have different thicknesses.

Learn How to Tie the Tape Knot
- To tie this knot, first you tie an Overhand Knot in one end of rope
- Then you take the other end of rope and follow all of the twists and turns of the Overhand Knot from the other direction.
