Accessible Swings and
Playground Equipment

In the true spirit of providing access for persons of all abilities, Outdoor Fun Store is proud to offer these truly unique playground products. These accessible swings and play system components have been designed specifically to accommodate both adult and juvenile wheelchairs, even motorized wheelchairs! Front and rear ramps allow easy access onto and off the non-skid aluminum platform. Optional pull chain enables users to enter, propel themselves and exit on their own. The wheelchair platform can be attached to almost any frame.

We can offer you all styles of play area safety surfacing. We can provide you with custom poured-in-place, interlocking tiles, individual tiles and a new ADA certified loose fill recycled rubber product. Accessible Heavy-Duty Combination Swingset

Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)

The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1991 mandates that playground equipment be accessible to those with handicaps. While a broad range of handicaps exists, most attention seems to focus on children in wheelchairs. Three options generally are available for this group:

1. Wheelchair Ramps
2. Transfer Decks
3. Low Events Accessible from the Wheelchair

Since ramps are so expensive, options 2 and 3 have become more popular. Outdoor Fun Store can supply transfer decks for most play systems.

Many children with other handicaps can use "regular" play equipment. Hearing-impaired children can use most play events although plastic slides can interfere with hearing devices. Sight-impaired children can use most play events with assistance of another person.
